Housing

If you applied for on-campus housing, you will receive an e-mail in June or July with your housing assignment, move-in time, and date. All first-year students are scheduled to move into the residence halls Wednesday-Thursday, August 15-16, unless otherwise notified. Find more move-in information at Housing’s Live On site.

If you’re not living on campus in the residence halls, make sure you can move in to your apartment or other lodgings prior to Friday, August 17, so that you can participate in On Iowa! activities.

Meals

If you are living in the residence halls, meal service will begin the day you move in, which will be August 15 or 16, depending on the move-in time you are assigned (you should receive your move-in date and time in June or July).

If you are living off campus, or you don’t have a University meal plan, your meals will be provided during the official On Iowa! program (which includes dinner on Friday; lunch on Saturday; and brunch and dinner on Sunday).

Transportation & Getting Around

  • Walking: You will be walking a lot during the program (see Disability & Mobility Accommodations if you need assistance). Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
  • Cambus: The University’s free bus service will be operating on its regular service schedule beginning August 17. There will be special shuttles provided to certain events. Take a look at the On Iowa Transportation page  for more information.
  • Driving: If you live off campus and are driving to campus, you can park free in designated lots during On Iowa!. Students living off campus (not in the residence halls) will have free parking in the Hawkeye Commuter Lot or Hancher Parking Lot while they attend On Iowa! activities. More information can be found on the Off Campus Parking page.

Disability and Mobility Accommodations

We want to be sure that you’re able to participate fully in On Iowa! If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to participate in this program, please contact Kate Sojka at 319-335-1733 by August 3.
