The University of Iowa

Schedule Highlights

Check out some of the featured events for new students during the entire On Iowa! program. Remember that this is simply an overview as there are over 100 other activities planned between Monday, August 15- Sunday, August 21. Check back soon for a full schedule of On Iowa! events!

Hawkeye Welcome*

Wednesday, August 17- Friday, August 19th

This three-hour session will give new students an opportunity to interact with other new Hawkeyes, engage with the IOWA Challenge during a fun small group session facilitated by an On Iowa! Leader, and learn academic success tips from University of Iowa! Faculty during a live lecture. Students living in an on-campus residence hall will be assigned sessions based on their residence hall move-in dates. First-year students living off campus and transfer students will be assigned based on the date they check-in to the On Iowa! program.

Kick-Off at Kinnick*

Friday, August 19th, 8:00 - 8:45pm

It's a Hawkeye Tradition! Pose for the world's largest Block I (at least as far as we know) on the field of Historic Kinnick Stadium. You’ll learn the Iowa Fight Song and some of the traditions that make Iowa such a special place. A fireworks show over the stadium and games on the field will cap off the event. This is where you will feel you have truly joined the Hawkeye family. Remember to wear your gold Class of 2026 or transfer shirt given to you at On Iowa! check-in.

Sunday, August 21st, 4:00 - 4:50pm

This touching ceremony on the beautiful Pentacrest is your official commitment to being a successful Hawkeye. The Class of 2026 will be officially welcomed by UI President Barbara J. Wilson, faculty, staff, and the Class of 2026 Convocation speaker. Apply to be the Convocation Speaker.

President’s Block Party*

Sunday, August 21st, 5:00 - 6:30pm

President Barbara Wilson invites you to wrap up the end of the On Iowa! program and celebrate the start of your first semester with free dinner at her house. On Iowa! Go Hawks!
