Writing is an important part of college. Writing well improves your learning and your grades. But many students come to college feeling nervous about writing or feeling uncertain about what kinds of writing they will have to produce for college classes. A few key strategies (and some insider tips) can help any student feel better prepared to meet the writing challenges ahead. Matt Gilchrist of the Rhetoric Department, the Writing Center, and Iowa Digital Engagement and Learning will share tips for successful writing at the University of Iowa. Students will leave this workshop equipped with strategies every first-year student can use to help tackle writing in any course from Rhetoric to Interpretation of Literature to the first lab report in Principles of Chemistry.
