How do I get around on campus?

  • Walking: You will be walking a lot during the program (see Disability & Mobility Accommodations if you need assistance). Be sure to wear appropriate footwear.
  • Cambus: The University’s free bus service will be operating on its regular service schedule beginning the Wednesday of On Iowa. There will be special shuttles provided to certain events. Take a look at the On Iowa Transportation page  for more information.
  • Driving: Students living off-campus may request free parking in the Hancher Parking Lot (#55) to attend On Iowa! activities that occur on Wednesday-Friday, August 18 (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.). [Note that on Wednesday-Friday after 4:30 p.m. and all-day on Saturday and Sunday, parking in Hancher Lot (#55) is free.]  Contact the On Iowa program (oniowaprogram@uiowa.edu) by the Friday prior to On Iowa if you need a parking permit during Wednesday-Friday; include your name, dates you are planning to use the permit, and which day you are planning to check-in to the On Iowa program. We will have your permit ready for you when you check-in to the On Iowa program at the IMU (you may use one of the 15-minute meters outside of the IMU during check-in). After the Friday prior deadline, free parking permits are made on a first-come, first-served request during the On Iowa Check-in process.
