If you applied for on-campus housing, you will receive an email starting in May and continuing through the summer with your housing assignment, move-in time, and date. All students are scheduled to move into the residence halls between Tuesday, August 16-Thursday, August 18, unless otherwise notified. Transfer students move in to their halls on Thursday, Aug. 18. Find a list of what to pack on Housing's website.
If you’re not living on campus in the residence halls, make sure you can move in to your apartment or other lodgings prior to Friday, Aug. 19, so that you can participate in On Iowa! activities.
If you are living in the residence halls, meal service will begin the day you move in. Residents will be issued a special wristband to wear Aug. 16-21 for easy access to the Market Places.
If you are living off-campus, or you do not have a University meal plan, two meals will be provided during the official On Iowa! program: dinner on Friday and dinner on Sunday. You may also eat in the Market Places: $7/breakfast, and $10/lunch or dinner. (Note: Burge and Hillcrest Market Places are cashless; meals by be purchased by U-Bill or credit card only.) There is a free special lunch for first-year (Class of 2020) off-campus students planned on Friday, August 19 (Noon-1:30 p.m.). An invitation about this lunch will be mailed to you.
