Spring Welcome Information

Housing

If you applied for on-campus housing, you will receive an email to your UIowa email in late December or early January with your housing assignment, move-in information, and contract information. New spring students can move in starting January 18, 2025 for no additional cost. Students may move in early beginning January 13, 2025 for a charge of $35.00 per day and no sign-up is required for early move-in starting January 13. Meal plans begin on January 18 and market places resume regular hours that day. Check the Dining website for location hours, menus, and more information about your meal plan. Find a list of what to pack on Housing's website and don't forget to bring a photo ID for check in at your residence hall. 

Meals

If you are living in the residence halls, meal service will begin Saturday, January 18.

Transportation & Getting Around

  • All students should plan to attend the Hawkeye Welcome on Sunday, January 19 from 3:00-5:00 pm in the International Ballroom, 2nd Floor, Iowa Memorial Union.  If you live off campus and want to drive to the event, you can park in the Iowa Memorial Union parking garage, across Madison Street from the Iowa Memorial Union. Parking passes that will cover the cost of parking will be given out at the event.

  • Cambus: Download the Transit app to review Cambus routes and review the  On Iowa Transportation page for more information about specific routes.
  • Driving: Students living off-campus (not in the residence halls or cannot walk to campus) may request free parking to attend On Iowa! activities. Email the On Iowa program (oniowaprogram@uiowa.edu) to request a parking pass for events happening January 19 – 28, 2025. Parking passes can be picked up at the Hawkeye Welcome on January 19 or between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Tuesday – Friday in 310 Calvin Hall.
