Upload a video to YouTube of your best dunk(s) on the hoops at either the Fieldhouse, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, or behind Burge or Slater Residence Halls. Fill out this form by Sunday, August 23rd. The person with the best dunk will receive a private tour of Kinnick Stadium for you and your friends!

Ongoing Sustainability Bingo!

Take part in Sustainability Bingo! hosted by the Office of Sustainability and the Environment.

During the week, complete 4 or more easy and quick sustainability tasks on your Bingo card and win a free plant for your dorm or apartment and a goodie bag from the Office of Sustainability! Available on our website and social media, Sustainability Bingo! can be completed by anyone interested in learning more about Sustainability at Iowa. Topics in Sustainability Bingo! range from campus connections to community resources. When you cross off 4 things, you will earn a free plant and a gift bag of goodies from the Office of Sustainability.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is free, course-specific, peer-facilitated group study session that helps students review course content and learn strategies for success. SI sessions are held multiple times per week by a SI Leader. Leaders are successful students who have already mastered the course material. SI sessions are designed to be a fun and interactive way to learn the course material through group activities, discussions, and games! Every year, SI has over 20,000 attendees at the sessions. What do I Need? Laptop/Tablet/Desktop, A Netflix account, Google Chrome web browser, and the Netflix Party plugin are required. 

How can I participate? 

1. Visit www.netflixparty.com from a Google Chrome web browser 

2. Install Netflix Party 

3. Login to Netflix from a Google Chrome web browser 

4. The party URL will be available no later than 3:30 pm on the event page each day. 

5. Click on the party URL, which will redirect to Netflix’s website, then click on the “NP” icon to the right of the URL address bar and you will automatically join the party. 

6. Choose a user icon, add your name, and enjoy the show!

Do you love karaoke? Want to have some fun listening to your peers perform?! Come join us for open mic, featuring musician Mikki Hommel. Mikki is the siren of New York’s Lower East Side, a soulful singer-songwriter whose voice has been captivating audiences in Alphabet City since 2009.Mikki’s improvised songs show off her quick wit and sharp tongue. Charming the crowds with songs created from just a few audience suggestions, Mikki has showcased her music improv at venues including The Village Lantern, Karma Lounge, Rearview Comedy, The New York Comedy Club, The Broadway Comedy Club and last year’s New York Musical Improv Festival.

Friday, August 21 9:00- 11:30 pm Natterdoodle, hand lettering workshop Do you love the look of hand lettering, but are not sure where to start?  Nationally recognized lettering artist, Natalie of NatterDoodle is here to help. Natalie thrives on sharing her love of lettering in a workshop setting. If you can write in cursive, or even if you can just print, OK, even if you can just hold a pen – with practice and instruction you can develop a unique hand lettering style. This workshop is a pen party with a focus on feeling more colorful, creative and connected while familiarizing yourself with hand lettering basics. Turn your ordinary handwriting into a creative, faux-ligraphy style all your own.

Saturday, August 22 7:00- 9:00 pm DM After Dark Interested in Dance Marathon? Come to DM After Dark! The event will take place on August 22 and is a chance for incoming students to learn about our fight against pediatric cancer. Students can come to socialize, play games and learn how to get involved right away! Dance Marathon will be hosting activities including Bingo, Just Dance, Karaoke and more. DM After Dark is the perfect way to wrap up On Iowa! week and get to know more people here on campus. Although things look different this fall, Dance Marathon remains rooted in its mission to foster community here on campus in a safe and healthy environment. Come join us virtually on August 22 at 7 pm via Zoom.
