Dessert Crawl

If you like exceptional dessert and a great time then join us as we visit some of Iowa City’s best places to satisfy a sweet tooth. Join us as we venture out to try the best candy, frozen yogurt, cookies and cupcakes available anywhere, you’ll be glad you did! If you only attend one optional event Thursday this should be it! Limited to the first 50 participants.

Table Top Games

Play classic games like Monopoly, Life, Scrabble, and Risk. Also, try your chance at newer mega-hits like Ticket to Ride, Catan, King of Tokyo, Codenames, and Ultimate Werewolf. No experience needed – bring your love and interest for games. 

Gamer Night

Join us at the Iowa Memorial Union to meet fellow gamers at the University of Iowa. A night filled with various video games ranging from RPGs to Sports Games. You will also have the opportunity to learn about student organizations that have a passion in gaming.

Film Festival

Join us for a free movie night sponsored by various student organizations at the Iowa Memorial Union. Bring a friend, a roommate, and anyone else you have met to enjoy movies and popcorn! You will also have the opportunity to learn about student organizations that have a passion in entertainment.

Hawkeye Spirit Night

Welcome to the University of Iowa! Now that you’re officially a Hawkeye join ARH for a night of tie-dye spirit. Need some Iowa gear? This event is for you! Free t-shirts and tanks will be available to tie-dye. Snacks will be provided. Stop by any of the three sponsoring residence halls to participate (Burge, Mayflower, and Petersen). We look forward to seeing you there!

Games on the Pentacrest

Join in the fun by playing and learning lawn games including spikeball, jarts, and corn hole. We might even channel our inner child with an old-fashioned game of tag. You are more than welcome to just lounge on the lawn and meet other new students. There will be snacks!

Poetry Slam

What better way to introduce yourself to the nation’s best creative writing program than to attend the Poetry Slam? Multicultural Programs will be hosting the event showcasing the talents of returning students, as well as open slots for members of the Class of 2023 and transfer students. Get your poems ready for the open mic! We all have a story, so why not tell it? Do not miss hearing the best young talent Iowa has to offer.
